STOOMBOOTKADE 2

The Stoombootkade, photographed from the frozen Krúswetter/Kruiswater, 1898. The largest house was, at the time, used as a warehouse for the Plantinga Distillery. Above the warehouse at Stoombootkade 2, municipal architect Mr Vrijburg lived. Later, the entire location was converted for living in.

The Stoombootkade, again, now photographed from the Krúswetter/Kruiswater viewing more west, around 1910. The house with the white facade is the "Plantinga house". According to local data, which has been kept since 1900, Klaas and Ytje have lived here from at least 1900 until their death in 1922, and Gerrit Herman Plantinga and Jetske Dijkstra after that (until Gerrit Herman died in 1962). The house was put up for sale on 4 January 1963.
The later Sonnema/Plantinga distillery would be behind that row of houses.
